Our Reading Council is made up of our Year 6 Reading Buddies, and our Year 5 librarians. The Reading Council are responsible for helping Mrs Robinson make decisions regarding special reading events and competitions. For example, they decide the theme of our World Book Days, and collectively, judge the Best Dressed doors.
Our Reading Buddies work with our Early Years and Key Stage one children. The buddies go, giving up some of their lunchtime, to hear the children read. They are an invaluable help to the EYFS and KS1 teachers.
Our librarians help Mrs Robinson keep the two libraries neat, tidy and well organised. They too give up two lunchtimes a week to help.
Our Starbooks Award is given to the classes in Lower Key Stage Two and Upper Key Stage 2 who have read the most books during the term.
The winning class can celebrate with a Starbooks afternoon. Their classroom is transformed into a cafe, with treats, drinks and a film of one of their favourite books. Mrs. Robinson also promises to buy a selection of books for their class library. Get reading Moorside!
