New Nursery and Reception September 2020
We are delighted that you and your child are joining Moorside Community Primary School for the academic year 2020-2021. It gives us great pleasure to welcome you and your family to our school community.
We hope that the information on this page will answer some of the questions that you have about your child starting school with us and assure you that we will be in touch with you in the coming weeks with further details about your child's induction. Due to the current situation we are adapting our usual practice to enable us to welcome you and your child fully. Please bear with us, all actions that we take will be following Government guidelines and prioritising safety.
Once next steps have been finalised, all new Nursery and Reception families will be sent a link by email to log on to our online learning journey Seesaw.
Please look out for this email and join as soon as you are able. We will be using Seesaw to keep you updated and to offer a virtual welcome to you and your child.
We will be talking to pre-school and nursery settings, as we always do, to find out where your child is in their learning. We will also be talking to you directly to find out about your child's preferences; things they particularly enjoy, find difficult etc. These conversations usually take place within the context of stay and play visits to school in the summer term or a home visit in early September, however if this is not possible, due to the current situation, we will think creatively to ensure that we receive all of the information that we need about your child. We will be in touch through the Seesaw app as soon as we can confirm any arrangements.

Early Years Foundation Stage
In Nursery and Reception our curriculum follows the guidance set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. We have worked hard over a number of years to develop a research-based child-led approach that ensures all of our children get the best possible start to their education and leave Reception as confident, resilient and inspired learners. More details of our approach can be found on our curriculum page.
For families requiring wrap-around care we offer an onsite before and after-school club. Moorside Plus is run by Moorside Community Primary School and is situated in the Key Stage One Breakout Areas. It is open to all children attending the school. We aim to provide high-quality, stimulating care in a safe and secure environment outside of school hours.
Further information can be found on the Moorside Plus page on our website https://www.moorsideprimary.net/our-school/moorside-plus/
