Head Teachers update - 19.03.20

19/3/2020

Dear Parent/Guardians and Carers

COVID-19 Update

As you are aware from the announcement from the Education Secretary yesterday, all schools within the United Kingdom will partially close at 3.15 tomorrow (Friday 20th March 2020) Schools will remain closed until further notice.

The exception to this rule will be for the children of key workers (yet to be defined by the Government) and identified vulnerable children (those with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) and/or whom are assigned with a social worker.)

Once we receive information and guidance on who is defined as a key worker we will be communicating to the parents and carers.  This shall be completed by Friday.

For these children, the school shall remain open. For the most, however, the school is closed. The school will be providing on-line learning via See-Saw, which will be set by our teachers. Any additional support you may require to enable your children to access the work set, can also be requested via See-Saw. If you have not already received your unique QR code, it is imperative that you contact the office to obtain one as soon as you can. You will not be able to access See-Saw without this code.

Free School Meals

Whilst the school is partially open, during term time only, we will provide a lunch every day for all children that are in receipt of means tested Free School Meals. You will be able to pick this up from the school reception. We are currently working alongside SPIE (Facilities Management Company) and the Local Authority to provide a packed lunch for identified families. These families shall be contacted in due course.

I am expecting further clarification from the Department for Education today and once this is received I will be communicating to you all.

We are all working in unprecedented circumstances and I am all too aware that this situation is causing great anxiety and uncertainty.  I want to stress that the staff here at Moorside Primary School, are working tirelessly to ensure your children continually receive appropriate support throughout this process. I am extremely proud of how the whole community are supporting each other at this time and I only hope that the circumstances in which we now find ourselves, will bring us closer together as a community.

Keep safe, look after each other and keep communicating to the vulnerable members of our community!

Yours sincerely

Mr S. Lawler-Smith
